This week, in honor of Thanksgiving in the U.S., I want to really put the focus on gratitude and urge you to practice it not just this week but the entire year!
The Importance of Gratitude
I will admit that I don’t always practice gratitude as often as I should.
Especially when you’re running a business, it’s easy to get caught up in saying things like:
• I need more clients
• I need more money
• I wish I was further along in my business
• I thought it would be easier than this.
• So and so is making more money than me this month, etc.
And yet, saying those things and allowing yourself to give into those feelings for an extended period of time is EXACTLY what keeps the money, the clients, and the success you want away from you.
If all you are focused on is that your results are “not enough,” then that is what you’ll continue to get more of.
You get what you focus on. Like attracts like. And you will just end up creating more of the same, i.e. not enough.
Instead, you can begin to focus on all the things in your life that you DO have enough of and are grateful for. Focus on the clients you DO have, the money you DO have (no matter how little it is), and all the blessings you DO have in your life.
Every day write out at least five things you are grateful for, no matter how big or small they are. Not only does this completely shift your vibe and your state of mind, but it shows the Universe that you are appreciative of the things you already have and are ready to receive more!
Shift your lack thinking instantly…
When you spend most of your time focusing on how what you have is not enough or not what you really want, it actually makes things worse for you. You may think you’re just being “realistic,” but all it does is send out a request to attract more of the same.
Whether or not you believe in the law of attraction, you’ve probably seen how this is true countless times in your life. When you focus on the best, good things come to you. When you focus on what you don’t want, you just attract more of the same.
Practicing gratitude on a consistent basis is one of the fastest and easiest ways to turn things around in your life.
You can also practice gratitude in advance for things you have not received yet and it will bring those things to you more quickly. Think of a young child who says “Thank you” for a toy they want, but haven’t received yet. It probably makes you want to go out and buy that toy for them!
The same thing works with you. If you are grateful for things even before they show up, the Universe is compelled to give them to you.
In “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace D. Wattles it says,
“The grateful outreaching of your mind in thankful praise to the Supreme is a liberation or expenditure of force; it cannot fail to reach that to which it is addressed, and the reaction is an instantaneous movement towards you.”
By expressing gratitude, you are sending out a signal to the Universe that you expect to receive whatever it is you are thankful for and the Universe will comply by bringing you just that!
This is a real demonstration of faith and it will bring you what you want.
This holiday season, I encourage you to eliminate the lack thinking from your life and begin to focus on all the great things that you DO have (even if it’s not everything you want). Not only will it help you feel better, but it will also bring more of the good stuff to you and then you will have even more to be grateful for!
If you’re in the U.S., I’m wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! I’m very grateful to have you in my community.
